Hunting Season Begins

Yes... It's that time of year for all those men to get out in the woods and enjoy that which God has created. Yes it is deer season! Bow season opened this weekend and it was not even daylight when the action started around me. It was dusk when I could see movement in front of me about 40-yards. Within about 15-minutes I thought I had identified it as a buck when suddenley, three does came up behind my stand and were within 5-yards of the stand. While the buck started his way up the side of the hill to me he stopped about 20-yards away broadside. It was time, the shot was taken and and the buck ran about 40-yards and fell. All of this by 7:30. It is not the buck of a lifetime but it was still exciting. He was a 7-pointer. I will be back in the woods looking for that buck of a lifetime. This will be year #3 in that quest. I hope to have him in this blog in the near future.

Football Weekend

At least a couple of football teams remain undefeated in Tennessee. The Tennessee Titans and the Christian Crusaders with Hunter Holloway leading the way. Hunter scored on another long run from scrimmage this week. The run was a dive up the middle and while running, Savannah was cheering. Their team and squad pictures are here.

Football Update

Hunter's football team is now 3-0 on the year. They played their toughest competition this past weekend. Hunter scored on an 80-yard run around the end dodging three tackles on his way to the end zone. As he crossed the line he placed a hand behind his head and high stepped in. It was priceless but we had to have the sportsmanship talk following that. He said he got it from his Xbox Madden game. At the end of the game with the score tied 20-20, Hunter was the quarterback that led the team to the 25-yard line. With one second left on the clock, the coach switched him to receiver and Hunter ran a crossing pattern and caught the ball at about the 10-yard line. He turned it up the field and jumped across the goal line for the winning score. In the background everyone could her Savannah cheering go Hunter as they were on that final game winning drive. After the game we got to visit with Nanny and Pa Paw at their home. She cooked a big pot of chili to celebrate.

Hunter and Savannah swimming and relaxing at the lake at home.

Hunter has started Upward Flag Football and Savannah is cheering for the teams. After two weeks they are 2-0. Hunter has thrown one touchdown pass and has had a 25-yard reception that lead to a touchdown. Savannah has one of the best cheerleading voices on the squad.

The Battery

Hunter and Savannah on a cannon at Battery Park in Charleston.

Charleston, S.C.

We recently took a quick weekend trip to Charleston, South Carolina. The kids enjoyed the beach , and for a guys day out , Hunter, Pa and Tim really liked touring Fort Sumter. The weather was great, although hot, and the food was great. Mom and Nana really enjoyed the tomato pie at Dixies (a local favorite). Charleston is becoming one of our favorite towns to visit just because of the history and beautiful scenery that is there.
